Proper Functioning Index
In a DPS solution, one of the key aspects to monitor is the health of the connected products. Health can be measured by several factors, one of which is the presence of failures or anomalies that may indicate that the machine is not properly functioning, and could break down if no action is taken.
The presence of failures and anomalies can be used to calculate a synthetic index to be used by Operation Managers in Assisted Maintenance and Troubleshooting use case as an indicator that the machine is not working as expected, and assess the risk of the machine breaking down causing a production stoppage. Similarly, in a Smart Maintenance use case, Service Technicians can compare this index over time and identify machines with decreasing trends, and perform proactive maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
In the Console, you can use the new built-in Proper Functioning Index algorithm to configure insight metrics. With this algorithm, the DPS can measure the proper functioning of a connected product by analyzing the failures or anomalies (major and minor) that occur on a day-to-day basis.

Virtual Things with data mirroring
When configuring a DPS, and particularly when you are configuring a new Thing Definition, one of the problems you may face is having fresh data that are as close as possible to real data. The best solution would be to have a real connected machine, but in some case it is not possible in non production environments (e.g. Devel, Staging).
To help you, we have extended Virtual Things (already used to publish data through a CSV), and now you can mirror data from a specific thing to another, also cross environment (e.g. from Production to Devel).
In this way you can be faster in configuring a new version of Thing Definition, by going to reuse data that is already published on a thing in the production environment.
Personal Access Tokens
A Personal Access Token (PAT) is a new and modern way to authenticate API clients (e.g. third-party or legacy software) in the DPS by using a token, in the alternative to traditional user passwords. In this way there is no need to create technical accounts or use personal passwords that could be compromised.
A PAT usage can be monitored, and in case revoked without affecting the DPS user account.
Bug fixes (DPS)
- The search field status with advanced buttons was not preserved on page reload.
- The metric initial value for metric was not properly saved in the presence of a thing definition hierarchy.
- The text key search into Data Export and Recipe List widgets was case-sensitive instead of case-insensitive.
